Erotism: Death and Sensuality
by Georges Bataille
finally… nu sunt de acord cu tot ce scrie Bataille, evident (do not ask this man about his opinion on incest, mi-a luat 4 ani sa termin acel capitol, mai ales ca asta era cartea mea de “citit in autobuz”) dar specialitatea lui sunt taboos si transgresiunea si a avut suficiente puncte forte in domeniu cat sa ii dau 4 stelute. cartea imbina perfect latura lui de sociolog serios cu cea de magar al literaturii
loved his idea that impurity is part of the Sacred, loved his “organised disorder” thing, loved his writing on Sade (“To admire de Sade is to diminish the force of his ideas”), loved his critique of christianity
“Vice can be thought of as the art of giving oneself the feeling of transgression in a more or less maniac way.” not a good influence i guess
citatul aferent care evident face paralela intre misticism si erotism
“I do not mean that eroticism and sanctity are of the same nature, and anyway that subject falls outside my scope. All I mean is that both experiences have an extreme intensity. When I speak of sanctity I am referring to the life that the presence of a sacred reality within us informs, a reality that may completely overwhelm us. Just now I shall be content to look at the emotion of sanctity on the one hand and at the emotion of eroticism on the other, in so far as each has extreme intensity. My meaning is that with these two emotions one brings us closer to other men and the other cuts us off from them and leaves us in solitude.”
“. Yet eroticism is only fulfilled, only exhausts all its potentialities if it brings some degradation in its train, the horror of which will suggest the simple death of the flesh.”
this man just can t enjoy normal sex…
