Falling for Red by Serena Pier
🎧 Narrated by Conner Crais & Samantha Summers
The narration in this audiobook was absolutely spot-on. Conner Crais and Samantha Summers brought so much warmth and personality to Jake and Clair—I was hooked from the first chapter.
The story starts strong: Jake is a dedicated firefighter searching for “the one,” and Clair is a single mom navigating life after a tough divorce and custody battle. She’s fiercely independent, used to doing things on her own, and hesitant to trust again. But Jake slowly chips away at her walls, and their chemistry is undeniable. I loved watching her let someone in, and Jake was that “too good to be true” kind of guy you can’t help but root for.
Where the book lost a bit of momentum for me was the ending. After a breakup driven by her fear of bringing drama into her life (thanks to her meddling ex), things just kind of… stopped. Most of their reconnection was done through texting, and then suddenly they were back together and the story was over. It felt rushed and a little incomplete—especially since the Hi-Fi series spreads out each couple’s story over several books.
That said, I’m still enjoying the series and I’ll definitely keep listening. If you’re into interconnected small-town romances with a strong single mom and cinnamon roll firefighter, Falling for Red is still worth the listen.
