Castes in India: Their Mechanism, Genesis and Development by B.R. Ambedkar
5.0
As we stumble upon the stairs of social structure defined by predominant ranks, we grasp for a stick to steady ourselves. For centuries, we have silently followed these structures, which degrade generations through feeble grounds. The Aryans, Dravidians, Mongolians, and Scythians all found their way into the country by fighting hard battles, and the resulting culture has elements of capitalism. Although everyone accepted the presence of other surviving races, the ladder of caste was created to ensure survival among each other. Endogamy is a unique characteristic of caste in Indian society, but it is only one aspect of how caste has formed distinct groups.
Class is still dominant over caste in terms of hierarchy, but if those within the class take notable steps towards exogamy and reject the notion of a capitalistic existence, there is hope. However, in such a reactionary and moderately built society, this seems unthinkable or impractical.
