All-New X-Factor, Vol. 1: Not Brand X by Peter David

5.0

Peter David is and should be the go-to writer for X-Factor. After I quit reading the previous series many years ago, Marvel Now! added All New X-Factor to their ever growing X-Men books. Since House of M I never followed or read X-Men books, sometimes would read a volume or two at the local library. Peter David really caught my attention when he and artist Carmine di Giandomenico created this series and I seem can't stop reading and wanting more. Artist Di Giandomenico (say it really fast) created a really nice flowing panels alongside David's dialogue that did not alienate me and have to read other X-Books to know. And speaking of writing I like how the characters are more grounded and human than its contemporaries.

The concept of X-Factor as a privately owned superhero team might not be new to some but it felt refreshing. Especially the gold/dirty yellow color of the uniform, two non-mutants in the form of Danger and Warlock, Gambit, Quicksilver, Cypher and Polaris round up the team (to me they are like odd former members of the x-men that doesn't fit in).

This volume is a great intro and opens up to what the team will be dealing with in the future. I highly recommend
