Oh how I love this story.
Peter is truly impulsive, cocky, and forgetful yet you cannot help but love him. There’s something so magical about reading his story that isn’t really captured in any of the film adaptations I’ve seen. The commentary on childhood and needing a mother/family is complex; I did a lot of annotating as I read.
I was surprised at how much I loved the narrator’s voice. His attitude and the details he chose to include colored the story and made it so much more engaging than other classics. There are so many quotes beyond the ones most people know that deserve more hype.
This was my second time reading this story, but I enjoyed it so much more. I have no doubt I’ll be reading it, again.
