Bitch ohhhhhhhh my god. There's something to be said for reading a book knowing there's a Twist™ coming. I can't say I'm happy with all of it--the plot went somewhere I didn't want it to go--but I'm not one of those big brains who thinks it's bad writing when a character isn't a carbon copy of the reader so that didn't bother me.
This was beautifully written. Absolutely well-worth the read. It felt very slow to me because I was anticipating something wild-crazy to happen, and I was not disappointed at the shift. I'm glad Picoult had the establishment within the field to be able to get this published in a time where lots of people are shying away from something raw. I cried several times while reading this--the details are spot on, the story intriguing at every turn.
