The Last Thing to Burn
by Will Dean
*4.5 stars, actually.
I cannot believe how much i FELT while reading this.
Obviously, being held captive for years upon years is emotionally excruciating, but ME the READER was crying half the time.
The strength. the determination. the willingness to persevere. I have never read a book like this. Something that had me at the edge of my seat but also begging for something nice/normal/not awful to happen (which isn't usually my style) because this woman...oh man...and that MONSTER?!?!
and...OH GOD THE TWISTS?!?! i had about 20% left and thought you know there really is only one way this ends at this point and then BOOM! i literally felt as though i was struck by lightning. WHAT THE HELL. how the hell?? and now i'm scrambling to find more books by this author. WOW.
