This was a surprisingly great story for me. I truly loved the dialogue - the back and forth banter was funny, quick and witty. Although the main characters are high school aged, they brought real emotions to the table. Baileyand Charlie (and the adults even)-- they all brought a dimension of emotion of navigating the messiness of life and love. I think this is a great YA read that handles the topic of divorce well, and does leave some open ended questions about what the future holds. The greatest message I got from Lynn Painter is love, even high school love, may not always forever or lasting, but it's how you choose to open yourself to love when you have it even if you're scared of if/when it ends. And the moments when you have it are real and beautiful and it's up to us to cherish it and find it again when we lose it.
