What the Fireflies Knew by Kai Harris
5.0
I don’t know why this book hasn’t been talked about everywhere.
I stumbled upon this book in a Facebook group when the author went into a bookstore to see her books there! And I knew I had to read it.
That summer that you grow up, that you are no longer treated like a baby but now you know the family secrets. That’s what happens to KB.
The book is from KB’s 10 year old naive perspective where all I wanted to do is hold her and protect her from what she’s about to learn about her dad, “men”, and racism.
I absolutely loved this book and would recommend it to anyone and can’t wait to read more from Kai Harris!
