Confessions of a Mask by Yukio Mishima

  • Plot- or character-driven? Character
  • Flaws of characters a main focus? Yes

4.0

So introspective and relatable at times, I found myself remembering times when I would convince myself of the same things that he was going through. My heart breaks for the main character as they continually deny themselves from themself . There were some points though during the introspection and ramblings of the main character that were fairly long and I lost the metaphor but I felt what they meant (hopefully) or maybe my attention span is horrible.
At the point where the mc was like oh no I have to be part of society was so mieko kawakami earthlings lmao
I enjoyed it overall!
