Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir

Great concept. The world of necro-magic is well realized and information given out in a competent and pleasing manner. Unfortunately, this book has some of the most annoying dialogue I’ve ever read. It will switch from lovingly disgusting depictions of what it feels like for flesh to be rendered from a bone to 2010 online “well that was friggin’ stupid” conversations.
