Nghi Vo writes in a way that draws me right in and keeps my nose in the book until the very end. I was so glad to be back with Chih and to finally get to see the Singing Hills! That said, this one is my least favorite of the series so far. It deals with grief in a big way and because of that it's heavy and slow. And while I understand the feeling of grief, I wasn't feeling it with the characters, as we hadn't met this character in previous books and don't get to know them very well. The ending is lovely and was definitely my favorite part. The story is resolved in a way that I felt was surprising and interesting. I hope there is more to mine from this series in future books!
