Loop

A fun and fast-paced adventure with plenty to love. I enjoyed the snappy dialogue and the futuristic world building that manages to be unique and cool without dwelling too long (or being nonsensical like I've seen in other YA books purporting to be SciFi).
What I found particularly refreshing in the characterization was how Bree's sharp wit can be both a strength and weakness--and that she took to heart the need to tone down when her snark is hurtful. I've rarely seen that in YA books, where the withering put down is somehow model behavior. I also loved that because of some time travel nuttiness, the love interest is kinda insta-loving, which, surprise! makes her uncomfortable. Just as it would any NORMAL person. Awesome!! (I wish more romance heroines would see insta-love as strange and creepy!) The close family relationships of the main teen characters was another positive, something also pretty rare in YA.
The plot's as tricksy as a three-part Dr. Who special, and those who don't spend much time thinking about what time travel could make possible might find it hard to follow. But Whovians will enjoy this book, as it is in a similar vein--time travel with adventure and plenty of humor.
