Go Hex Yourself by Jessica Clare

Reggie Johnson was thrilled to see a job advertisement for her favorite card game, Spellcraft: The Magicking. However, she was in for a surprise when she realized the ad was actually for a job as a familiar for an actual witch. As she embarks on her journey with real magic, she experiences some perks like comfortable living accommodations, amazing pay, and the opportunity to apprentice under a powerful witch. But there are also some downsides to the job, including her boss's peculiarities and the warlock Ben Magnus, who is her boss's nephew. Reggie finds Ben the most insufferable and maddening man to ever cast a spell, despite his good looks. He's bossy, irritating, and always orders her around. Nevertheless, when an unknown enemy targets the household, Reggie and Ben must work together to break a deadly curse. As they collaborate, Reggie comes to realize that there might be more to Ben than what meets the eye.

"She smiles softly at me, and I know I’m in such danger. Not from hexes or spells, but from becoming entirely besotted with my aunt’s familiar. I might already be there."

I am kicking myself for not reading this book earlier! It was the perfect sweet, spicy, and funny book that I needed to read. It's probably one of the cutest romances I've read in a hot second and I literally laughed out loud while reading this one. The narrators were really fantastic as well so if you're into audiobooks, I highly recommend it!

The entire premise of the book and how it's set up was hilarious and unique. The fact that she walks into this interview expecting to become an assistant to someone part of the card game team was hilarious and I love how she was like "yeah okay this is weird but maybe they're just really into the card game" and she just kept up that energy until it's fully revealed that magic is in fact real and she's not working for something who is just pretending.

Reggie was an icon. I loved the different little quirks that she had and especially related to the whole need to have control and her dynamic with her parents (to a degree). Ben was swoon-worthy to no one's surprise. Reylo-coded books are meant for me, I will eat them up and be so so so happy to consume them. Their dynamic together was addicting and I loved the banter that the two had back and forth. The chemistry was off the charts and Ben is great with his words and I loveddddd his confidence.

The side characters were also really lovable, but with their own flaws to have them be well-rounded despite not being the leads. I especially loved Maurice, the cat, and the dynamic he played throughout the story even as a cat. I'm definitely excited to read What the Hex soon!
