I enjoyed this book because it showed how much people can endure and still bounce back.  Cora had a rough life and was sheltered by her "Dad". When Cora got to go to school for the first time as a teenager, she had rules like Don't EVER attract attention, no boys, and no friends. I loved the ending of the book and how Cora's new life is soo much better than before.  Even though Cora had a lot of adversity in her old life, her life was so very different and amazing in comparison.  I have not read this author's books before but I will read more from Jo in the future.
