Band of Bachelors: Lucas by Sharon Hamilton

1.0

I unfortunately did not like this book at all, the hero and heroine were not likeable and there was nothing romantic about their story. There were way too many secondary characters (SEAL members) and it just got way too confusing. Other reasons why I did not enjoy this are all spoilers.
SpoilerLucas was only just served with divorce papers which I normally hate as the start of a new romance but they made Lucas's ex so obnoxious him finding someone better was great. What I really hated about his character is that he shared two young children with the ex and I don't think I read him actually talk of the kids by name. At one point he did say that they were in a bad place with the ex but instead of discussing trying to get custody he discusses how that means they are happy to see him. A bad dad is not at all a hero in my mind. At one point Marcy was kidnapped by a terrorist cell when she is abused and pumped with heroine. When she rescues herself she just goes home with Lucas. She was physically abused by the terrorists and had drugs in her system, had to be rescues from a house fire, but she didn't go to the hospital? Totally unrealistic. There were also multiple times were woman were abused in this story so it could be very triggering for some people. And finally, Lucas and Marcy fell in love within 3 chapters, were about for about 20, broke up, and then fell back in love in 1? Nothing at all felt like a love connection, it was pure lust.
I don't think I'll be reading any more in this series.
