"He was just one person, but to Xie Lian, it felt like the entire world was supporting him"
So many sweet moments in this volume! And so many important reveals! It packed a punch, yet I had some issues with the pacing again. But the very explosive ending sequence definitely makes up for it. Also shoutout to everyone in this one commenting on HuaLian and to every single of the many times they kissed!
At this point I can't really talk about it without spoilers:
✨ I was so happy to get reunited with Shi Qingxuan! I'm happy he remained himself despite the hardships, and it was nice to see Xie Lian still want to take care of him. And the fact that we got (unnamed) HE XUAN to come and help him at the very last minute... 😭
✨ Ok I think I'm officially a mega fan of Mei Nianqing 😭 I had a feeling we'd see him again and I'm glad, he's the nicest grumpy elder and probably the only person around who dares to scold Hua Cheng 😄 He's also our main supporter of HuaLian: "Men or women it doesn't matter, as long as you're happy"
✨ OH DEAR did I not see the Jun Wu reveal coming 😅 I've been completely blindsided, enough that I didn't dare trust MXTX for half of volume 7. I genuinely thought we'd learn he was possessed or that he'd been exchanged for White No-Face at some point during the series. But no 😭 I'll miss our dazzling heavenly emperor, but he's still amazing though.
🙃 It took us so long to get there... It felt like the book was at once jumping around too much and also taking way too long with little details. The massive cast means that MXTX must describe exactly what is happening to each character at all times and it drags her down. I would have liked to take our time to resolve each important step, and because we're at the end every step is massively important, before moving on, but also to focus a bit more on HuaLian. As much as I love MXTX's humour, it was a bit distracting during the last explosive scenes and took me out of the story a few times.
I am now *very* excited to see this to the end. I cannot wait to see more of HuaLian, especially in the extras, and to finally really know everything about this story. It has taken me quite a long time but I'm almost there!
