This is the first book by Gretchen Felker-Martin that I finished. I couldn't really get into Manhunt and I lost interest in Cuckoo about 2/3 of the way through. I'm interested enough in queer horror that I still wanted to give this one a try and I'm glad I did. It's a short, fast-paced read that hooked me right away and made me feel like I was being dragged along behind...but didn't want to let go. The entire book seethes with grief, pain, guilt, hypocrisy, repression, and a whole lot of impossible-to-control desire. Definitely check out the content warnings before you start reading, but if you can stomach the difficult topics and a whole lot of body horror, I think you'll enjoy the ride.
Graphic: Body horror, Suicide, Violence
Moderate: Homophobia, Rape, Sexual assault, Sexual content, Transphobia, Antisemitism, Death of parent, Fire/Fire injury, Injury/Injury detail
Minor: Animal death, Genocide, Torture
