It did take me longer than any other book in the series to reallyyyyyy get into, and I still found myself rolling my eyes at times or wishing I could just finish it and get into Kingdom of Ash already and getting impatient... which as I read through... became SO. DAMN. IRONIC. The parts I found myself getting annoyed at the most were EXACTLY what Chaol was needing to heal in himself... the anger, the sooking, the whining, the stubborness, the back and fourth with hate and acceptance. When it got to the nitty gritty self-reflection and healing I was BALLING, because it felt like a therapy session for myself!

There are also SO MANY key points that I'm glad I DIDN'T do the tandem read because the shock factor was sooo good - The last 100 pages had me in an absolute CHOKEHOLD.
