The Prophets by Robert Jones Jr.

5.0

Some books prompt silence and thought when you finish them. They stay with you. That’s the way it is with The Prophets, which I was fortunate enough to receive in a GoodReads giveaway. It’s brilliantly written. It’s thoughtful. It’s meaningful. And it’s powerful. It’s a story of humanity, its evils and its goodness and the struggle to find a meaningful piece of it. The story is unique, and I won’t give much of it away here. This book lays bare the vapid nature of whiteness. And I challenge anyone to read the descriptions of slave ships and not be shaken. The Prophets is compelling and meaningful first novel by Robert Jones Jr. Can’t wait for his second.
