This was a read for the novel nights book club and was super fun to discuss! I liked a lot of the elements of this book but overall just wish it resonated more. The main character is quite passive (for reasons that aren’t her fault) which can make it hard to connect to her or feel like the story is progressing. Many of the plot threads that interested me were wrapped up too quickly or kind of abandoned? Some of the overall themes here were quite powerful (i love a generational trauma plot), and some of the lines were quite beautifully written but this just didn’t quite hit for me for some reason! Still glad I read it and would looove to see this as a miniseries (also dear god the food descriptions made me so hungry for persian food)
