WOW.
This was a highly anticipated read for me, and it blew all my expectations away.
Ace. I love Ace. I felt an instant need to protect her. Her pain was written so beautifully and vividly. I felt it really easy to relate to Ace. I have always been known as someone's sister. Despite all her pain, all her sadness, she was always able to find strength. I loved seeing her grow more brave and just ... be more happy. 😠She is so strong and I love how much she loved and I loved all the moments in which she took charge with Maketes. They truly are a great pair.
Maketes. Holy shit, I thought I loved Maketes in the first 2 books, but that love could not compare to the love I have for him now. He was so much more than a cheeky golden retriever. He was so lonely it hurt. He was naive about humans, despite knowing two. His insecurities about being able to flutter pulled at my heartstrings. thEN THE FACT HE WAS THE GOLDEN CHILD, SAID TO BE LAST OF HIS LINE, TORE OUT MY HEART. He was so baby boy, I wanted to protect him.
... I also loved how vocal he was during spicy scenes. I never thought anguish could be so hot 🙈 AND THE RANDOM SPANKS!! GOT ME SCREAMING. Just know that whole sex scene I had been constantly commenting "AAAAA!!!!!!" 😂 I also loved how he called her Little One 😳.
I loved the couple's dynamic a lot. I love how they were comfortable bantering with each other. I also love how willing Maketes was to show Ace everything he could to erase her fears. The claws/teeth discussion made my heart warm. I also loved how much they supported each other. Maketes never let Ace forget her mission for him, never forget her sister. He was her rock during times of panic. 🥰
I AM SO INTO THE DEPTHSTRIDERS!!!! I LOVED LEARNING ABOUT THEIR LORE AND SEEING FORTIS AND HIS SON ?? A SON 👀. I also screamed OUT LOUD when it was revealed there would be a depthstrider lookinG FOR ACE'S SISTER!!!! .
I ALSO SQUEALED IN EXCITEMENT WHEN ALL THE GIRLS MET UP AND STARTED BONDING. My heart is so happy because of this book.
TLDR: I LOVE THIS BOOK, EMMA AS AN AUTHOR, AND I DESPERATELY NEED MORE!!
