When She Was Me is a dark, twisty tale of twin sisters, Casey and Leonora, who live in a secluded campground. Their quiet, isolated world is disrupted when a new camp owner and unexpected guests arrive—triggering a chain of events that unravel secrets and shake their reality.

I listened to this as an audiobook, and while the narration was solid, I don’t think this format served the story well. The frequent flashbacks and time shifts made it easy to lose the thread if I wasn’t paying full attention. This is a book that would work better with immersed reading—listening while following along with the text.

The pacing was another issue. The story dragged at times, and I found myself drifting, struggling to stay engaged. Just as I was about to give up, the TWISTS (yes, capital letters fully warranted!) pulled me right back in. Those reveals were unexpected and well-executed, and they helped recover my interest in the final stretch.

Overall, When She Was Me delivered on its promise of suspense and psychological intrigue, but its structure and length made it a challenging audiobook experience. I’d recommend it—with a caveat: read it physically or digitally, not just by ear.
