Paths of Malice by Sylvia Mercedes

4.0

This is by far the best written book of the series, so far.

Mercedes has done it again: created an incredible novel that I read in one sitting and will now be very impatient about waiting for the next to come out. This is one of my all time favourite fantasy worlds, I just love how well thought out and detailed it is. I literally cannot get enough of it.

The perspective was split between more characters this time, and even though I was a bit upset about seeing less of Ayleth and Terryn, the new characters were written so well and I think they really added pace and another layer to the story. As with the sequel, this wasn't the direction I thought the plot would go, but I loved all the twists and turns. It was completely captivating.

The Ayleth/Terryn development in this instalment is my favourite yet. I love seeing how their feelings and thoughts change in such a realistic timescale, and I'm so excited to see what happens next with it.

Overall, this continues to be my favourite series of the year. Ayleth is such an incredible character that I just love to follow her story, and I'm equally excited about the new characters introduced. This was a 5 star book, without a shadow of a doubt.

(I received this ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are entirely my own and truthful. Many thanks to the author for allowing me to read this early.)
