I chose this book from the Book of the Month Club. It sounded like something I'd read with plenty of interesting elements. However, the writing was poor, the characters were miserable, and it took too long to get to any interesting twists. This was also a Read with Jenna book pick. She tends toward gritty, downtrodden characters who finally get some redemption. This book does that, but in such an unappealing way.
