Considering the great characters and world the author was given to play with, I was disappointed by this book. One of the biggest issues was that I just found this confusing. It was a high school AU, set in modern times, but the bigger world was poorly set-up. We know that Clark is going to become Superman, but no one else has ever encountered anything unusual? The government is looking into investing in mind control, but most people don't even believe it exists. The main character has violet eyes and is aware that it's weird, but that comic book trait is given no explanation in the book.
Lois is a really promising character, and I enjoyed her family, friends, and Perry, but it could have been so much better if it had been cohesive enough to really world-build.
