I didn’t write reviews of each book in this series since I read them in quick succession. The first book had some potential. The rest of the series had me waffling between - I need to find out what happens AND I’m not reading the next book this isn’t that good. The final book really became a lot darker and more interesting but it still read like a very immature YA series. Zero spice. And the characters read like a 10 year old’s version of grown ups. Now, that’s a terrible review but I did stick with it for the whole 5 books so there were some positives too. The fantasy portion was interesting and offered a different take on magic, etc. The villains were definitely terrible and the author wasn’t afraid to kill off characters that seemed pretty integral to the plot. So, I think I’d say it was a giant “meh” from me but to each their own.
