Amma, Take Me to the Taj Mahal by Bhakti Mathur

5.0

Amma, Take Me to the Taj Mahal is a part of stand-alone series where the author takes you to explore several historical monuments of the country, India.

As the title suggests, this book takes you to the Taj Mahal, one of the seven wonders of the world. So the main character, Amma tells her kids Shiv and Veer about the history of the Taj Mahal, who built it, why it was built and for whom it was built. Moreover, this book states some interesting facts about the monument and also the story of Shahjahan and his predecessor and successor, how he met Mumtaz and what happened in his life afterwards.

I admire the author for telling the history of the monument in a very special and unique way. The book has illustrations intertwined with the story, which makes it more beautiful and interesting. While reading the book, I felt like I was travelling to Agra with them, experiencing the nature and beauty of the taj mahal, really felt very good about it.

The language used is very simple and lucid. The cover is very beautiful and vibrant. The narration and the writing style both are smooth. The book is nonfictional with fictional characters.

If you have kids in your house or have siblings who are young and are yet to know about history then you should definitely make them read this book.
