it took me months to read this and finish the series, because i knew it would wreck me. and i was right. my heart was ripped out of my chest. not once in nearly 700 pages was i bored. i loved the perspectives from both towns, and all the relationships that form. this book grapples with so many complex, unsolvable societal concepts and questions, yet infuses hope and resilience in between. finally, my favorite part - always the writing itself. fredrik backman is undeniable.
