Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J. Maas
5.0
You know when you go to the movies, and watch a really incredible one that touches you and leaves you feeling all weird some hours after that?
⠀
Imagine that movie being 4 months-long. That’s how long I’ve been reading this series and yesterday I ended it and that weird feeling kicked in but 124x worse (yes I multiplied 31 by 4).
⠀
I thought I’d have it under control, that I already knew how many books I had until this ended so I’d be emotionally prepared. I still thought I was in control until I turned the last page of the epilogue and nothing came after it.
⠀
For this book I’d just like to say- I know it’s not perfect, I know the series is not perfect, and has its owns little clichês and plot holes and these characters just have way too much luck, but it’s the message it transmitted, the emotions it gave me and the love for these characters I’ve grown that make me look at it and say “This. was. A. book.”
⠀
There’s this quote going around the bookish community- “Fantasy is hardly an escape from reality. It’s a way of understanding it” and this series, along with many others, is proof of that.
