Catherine House by Elisabeth Thomas

Its a great book, in general. I've just finished and im not sure what to write.
The missing star is for the plot, the rest are all for the writing, mood, characters. It's so weird to me how this book is a page turner while at the same time having very little plot to it. But its amazing still. I wanted to keep reading, about the smallest things: the tiles in the rooms, the games of dominoes played under the moonlight, wine drunk in teacups and friends falling asleep together. It's really the little things that make this book excellent, in the end you feel like you're too being absobed in some way by the house, enchanted even, with its twisting corridors, secret libraries, empty classrooms and basements where parties are held at every hour of the day. It's magical and wicked.
Read if you're looking for: a dream-like narration, strong and beautiful friendships, dark academia, hopelessness, reading for the vibes, drunk teens studying obscure topics and sleeping on library floors.
