smythica 's review for:
The Odyssey
by Homer
Yeah it slapped. I was a little worried about the whole thing being in iambic pentameter, but for the most part I was able to just read without actively noticing the rhythm. The semi-modern language made it super easy to follow. I gave a favourite phrase in the Iliad, so for this one I'll say it was "pep talk". You wouldn't think it would fit, but it does.
Side note, I always forget how little of the poem is actually dedicated to Odysseus' trials in the sea and it always disappoints me a little. A function of it being 3000 years old, I guess.
