Rainfall by Melissa Delport

This book...holy crap, this book.

It reached out and slapped me across the face. I felt like I had been pummeled. I admit, I went into it blind. I didn't read reviews, I didn't even read the synopsis. I just read. And then I was a ball of anxiety. Then....then I sobbed. And sobbed. And sobbed. I am not a crier normally. I read so many books that it takes a LOT to get into my heart. This book broke me. The story was original and amazing.

The story is told from the heroine Paige's POV. It's a story-centric book, not heavy on dialogue. You can feel what she is experiencing from her narration. Paige is a strong woman, even though her life has had several events and circumstances that could have made her bitter and jaded. She is determined to live life to the fullest and experience all that it has to offer. She is going to live. She is going to dance in the rain. She is a heroine worth knowing.

I am not going to tell you the rest. You need to read it for yourself. Please, read it.

I contacted Melissa because there were a few things in the book that I felt should be addressed (mostly the fact that she is South African and her Californian heroine was speaking like she was from South Africa) However, that should NOT stop you from reading this story. Just know going in that you are going to be reading words that Californians wouldn't say. It's ok...you can deal.

Read it for the story, it will get into your heart and stay there. You will have book hangover, guaranteed. When you do, drop me a line and I will virtually hold your hand through it. I promise.
