The Darkest Evening by Ann Cleeves
5.0
My very high expectations were fully met: a dark mystery set in a landscape with grey and menacing skies and Vera Stanhope leading the way to the solution of two murders within a small community.
Vera is still a bit of a bully, but her sharp edges have once again softend a bit and her crew deeply cares for her. The characters forming the mystery are all beautifully depicted with flesh on their bones and twisted minds working on different levels of evil.
One of the best books I've read this year. Please Mrs. Cleeves, could you please try to write faster ?
