I can't remember why I picked this up so many months after the last one. Probably my ever changing TBR list... but I'm glad I picked it up finally.
I am a bit conflicted around this one. The betrayal happens pretty early on in the story so there is a lot of time to work through the feelings. I really thought the MMC would be irredeemable (I am a bit on the fence still, tbh) but he was really sweet at the end, in his own way.
The FMC I battled with a bit. I really like strong, sassy characters and I think the ladies in the previous books set a standard. This FMC didn't get as angry as I was at the situation, and accepted/forgave way to easily. But, having said that, you understand how her past and subsequent emotions/insecurities drove that. So I understood where she was coming from. She also had some funny moments (the toaster incident was fantastic).
I enjoyed the comradery of the Alliance boys at the end. That was great.
Spice level 🌶 4
On to the mysterious Hans's story. To quote Olaf from Frozen, "...who is this Hans?”
