The Last House Guest by Megan Miranda
4.0
There's just something about the rich and privileged in their seaside summer mansions, isn't there? The Last House Guest felt very much like Revenge, the TV show, in terms of setting. This wealthy couple practically rules this particular corner of the world and if they let you in, then can just as quickly kick you back out. The story is told from Avery's POV in the present day and back in the summer of 2017, when her best friend and rich kid Sadie died. It was ruled a suicide but Avery knows that Sadie was not the type to take her own life. The deeper she digs, the more secrets she unravels and someone seems to following her, targeting the rental homes she's responsible for, all the while the police still seem to suspect her of some kind of foul play.
A bit of a slow-burner, very atmospheric, twisty and with a final reveal I had not seen coming, a great summer thriller, recommended!
