This book had such loveable characters, especially the female characters Joyce and Elizabeth. I do wish the male characters were developed a bit more, and I felt there were too many minor, side characters to keep track of. The hilarious comments throughout and especially Joyce's sidebars in her diary entries made me laugh out loud. The scenes involving Penny especially yanked at my heartstrings as a geriatric nurse myself. The depiction of aging, ageism, and how it affects relationships was so spot-on. The plot was a bit slow, but everything wrapped up nicely in the end. I can't wait to read the next two in the series and get more of these characters!
