The Autumnlands, Volume 1: Tooth and Claw
by Kurt Busiek
I REALLY want to see where this series goes. This first volume served as a good introduction to its fantasy setting and it’s story. The art, character designs, lore, and the world are easily its strongest aspects so far. The characters take a bit to start developing, but I think they find their footing in the 2nd half. That, along with some of the dialogue, can make parts of the 1st half feel slow. It’s a lot of fun throughout though and, as a furry, I’m a really big fan of different stories with anthropomorphic animals. They always have such unique worlds and character designs. This one was no exception. It has so many diverse species, from bull terriers to parrots, all with their own unique looks.
