This is a really fun contemporary YA novel following closeted Persian-American lesbian, Leila, who has never had a crush on anybody before. That is until new girl Saskia shows up at her school and turns her world upside down. This book is definitely a product of its time - it's full of misogyny and subtle lesbophobia - that can be difficult to get through at times without cringing at how this passed numerous edits. That said, I did really enjoy this. It was such a light, fun read that would do so well being adapted into a 2000s romcom (this is my formal petition for that to happen). I loved all the side characters - Leila's friends and family were all so wonderful and supportive - and they really made the story shine. I'm unsure if I will pick up Sara Farizan's first novel, but I am for sure glad that I finally read this!
