The Living Dead by George A. Romero, Daniel Kraus

Did not finish book. Stopped at 41%.
DNF. This book was an absolute slog and the political leanings of the author were about as subtle as a Medieval battering ram. This might have been based on Romero’s notes but it is 100% Kraus’ personal political screed.  We get it dude, white, straight, Christian, rural = evil. Anything that isn’t those is noble and righteous.
I could’ve powered through the above but the scene on the aircraft carrier was absolutely atrocious.  Personally, I’m pretty tired of author’s trying to write military characters without doing even the most basic research, and it’s obvious neither Kraus nor his editor have even the vaguest notion of how the US Navy operates or is organized.  That section of the book is so full of inaccuracies I couldn’t get beyond it. Honestly, a couple of Wikipedia searches on US Navy structure/organization, aircraft carriers, and modern weapon systems would’ve caught all the gigantic, glaring mistakes with that section.
There are plenty of other issues with the book, especially pacing and length, but I don’t want to waste any more of the time I already have on this massive disappointment. You can find better zombie tales on dead and archived horror message boards from the early 2000’s.
Don’t waste your time or money (like I did).
