One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez

4.0

"the wildest things with a completely natural tone of voice"

An absolutely EPIC piece of fiction! This is fiction and its craft and its beautiful language and magical realism and the human condition. This is Gabriel Garcia Marquez.

Sure, it was a difficult read and I would always remember it as such, but there was also a lot of joy to be transported and disoriented into the lives of the people of Macondo and of the family Buendia. What was absolutely magical for us was their reality--the insomnia plagues, the long years of rain, and a family saga that is so reminiscent of teleseryes; filled with drama, romance and rivalries; and (of course) illegitimate children.

A true master class in story-telling and the novel.
