A pleasant surprise. Typically prequel books released after the success of the main series are lazily written and generally quite boring, this is an exception to that. Harris crafts a gritty and opulent tale of revenge that adds fresh layers to the already colourful character of Hannibal Lecter. The story is perfectly set exploring the complexities of a post world war II Europe, a balancing between the drive of survival and greed.
This book has cemented Hannibal Lector as one of the greatest literary characters of the time.
Will read again in a hot scented bath with a glass of red.
