Demon Copperhead is a beautiful book with a level of poignancy and care towards the opioid crisis in modern America, specifically Appalachia, that is unlike any other media about that landscape. Kingsolver has masterly kept Dickens alive while exhibiting nothing but her own voice and talents as an author.
