bethanymyers 's review for:
The Circle
by Dave Eggers
Obvious horse is obvious dead.
This is maybe 2.5 stars as an easy, quick airport read with some good moments of prose - but seriously, the Ayn Rand comparisons are not all that far off. This is a sermon and he preaches it loosely, forgetting certain setups while hammering the moral home over and over and over again. The heroine is a bad person, and by the end of it his moral almost seems to backfire - Mae's world is so dumb that it gets what it deserves, and good riddance.
