This book completely exceeded my expectations.

I enjoyed the Cruel Prince but didn't think it was anything spectacular, but the Wicked King? The foundation set by the Cruel Prince perfectly sets you up for the sequel.

Jude is logical, flawed, intelligent, doesn't fall for miscommunication tropes, is human but cunning and strategic.

There were constantly moves being made on this chess board but not in a way that made you confused. Often times in books that have political or military tactics they are convoluted, overly complex, and leave so much room for error.

The Wicked King was to the point but never gave you all the information. I am a sucker for logical planning and execution and that's probably why I loved this book.

Pros:
-great story continuity
-great character development
-no miscommunication tropes
-betrayal and intrigue
-strong and logical FMC
-no pregnancy tropes

Cons:
genuinely I just enjoyed the ride and can't wait for the next one!
