Magic Burns by Ilona Andrews

I actually might have enjoyed this one more if I hadn't listened to the audiobook, where the reader's little girl voice (for all the characters, and not just Kate) drove me absolutely mad. ESPECIALLY her voice for Julie, who is a teenager, not a toddler. Then again, she was written far younger than she was supposed to be. I don't know. Julie's situation was weird.

I enjoyed this, but I didn't love it. I expect the series to be like most UF, where it gets better with each book as the mythology becomes more fleshed out and the relationships between characters have a chance to really start developing. I'm hopeful that's the case, but next time I think I'll stick with the ebook instead of the audio.
