Sisterland by Curtis Sittenfeld

3.0

I really like Curtis Sittenfeld. I thought Prep was semi-brilliant. And I also liked American Wife. Sittenfeld got into both the heads of a girl from a "different" background going to a classic New England prep school, and Barbara Bush. This one was a bit "meh." I didn't really buy the ESP thing or even think it was that interesting as a plot device. I didn't really like either of the sisters, though I did feel sympathy for them. This is the first book I've read that took place in St. Louis. Yawn. But the truth is that it could have taken place anywhere and she didn't make St. Louis interesting. So now I don't want to read "Man of My Dreams." Sorry Curtis! I will read your next one. I am going to posit that in Prep you were perhaps getting into your own head (interesting) and American Wife, a head we will never be allowed into. So maybe go back to one of those two. Also the ending was disappointing and made me like the narrator even less.
