The Strange Case of the Alchemist's Daughter
by Theodora Goss
As the first of three novels in the Athena Club series, this is off to a good start. I like the mix of famous Gothic literature stories compiled in to one. To not give too much away, we encounter Holmes & Watson and get a sprinkling of stories based off of Mary Shelley and H.G. Wells. ⠀
⠀
The one thing I wish was different about this story in particular, is that our encounter with a certain creature wasn’t as extraordinary as I would have liked it to be. It seemed put together just to waste some pages. (If you loved this book, please don’t come at me, lol)⠀
⠀
If you are looking for a TV series that is similar to this, but more adult, check out Penny Dreadful (on Netflix)! ⠀
⠀
Will I continue on with the series? I’d say I’ll keep going. I may wait for the audiobook versions of them.
