Morrigan's Cross by Nora Roberts

3.0

My first Nora Roberts book! Only 224 left to go! :,-)

A friend is really into Nora Roberts and we were talking books, so I got lured into borrowing this one by the promise of vampires + fantasy and a sprinkle of romance.

The story is really straightforward, basically an evil vampire queen is gonna wage an apocalyptic war against humanity and only the circle of six chosen by this goddess, Morrigan, can save the world. Helpfully, the goddess tells each character exactly where to go and when.

It's an easy read, and that's a good thing, but it's not what I'm into? But, it was kind of fun because it was so silly that I enjoyed being like, "oh, of course"...like when the badass vampire hunter character shows up, she's wearing a black leather jacket and there's literal lightening behind her.

Or when the cool NYC witch and her 12th century time traveling Irish sorcerer lover get married (after only two romantic rendezvous in which their ~love~ conjured rose petals)... whoops spoilers...
Anyways, the witch goes online shopping for wedding dresses and then *does a rhyming spell* so she can try on the dresses irl.

So, it's a big ball of cheese and plays loosey goosey with world building and making any magic rules, but that's okay - it's October and I'm glad I read it during spooooooky szn ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
