I thought the Copper Gauntlet by Holly Black and Cassandra Clare was nearly as good as the first in the series. The story developed the characters well and the ending was very climactic, but it took on a feel of "a bunch of mages on a road trip," which was more cheesy than anything else. I do generally love the writing. Black and Clare write with such a specific voice. But every so often it verges into "I'm a kid and I have kid thoughts. Like what is kissing?" in a way that feels condescending and unrealistic.
Overall, this was a terrific read though! I'm excited to read the third in the series. 3 stars! :)
